Apple’s new ceiling fan accessory for the Macbook Pro has been met with mixed reviews from customers, as some complain it is too big and bulky for their rooms.
Apple said Tuesday it will offer ceiling fans that are only one inch high, which will make them easier to attach to walls or ceilings, but some customers have complained that the new models don’t support external speakers, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Apple’s product listing says that the 12.8-inch Apple Cinema CinemaMax HD wall mount will fit the space of an Apple CinemaCenter HDTV, which is not an official product, the Wall Streets Journal reported.
Some people have also complained that they need to remove the base from the ceiling fan to attach it to walls, according the Journal.
The Wall Street Review, which has written many reviews of Apple’s products, found that “Apple CinemaMax” is too bulky to be useful for its intended purpose, while the “cinema” in the name is an allusion to its ability to project the TV image onto a wall.
But the Wall Review also said that “some customers may prefer a simpler solution,” like a wall mount that doesn’t need to be removed for mounting on a wall, the Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the company’s plans.
Apple CinemaMax will be available in June, according a company spokesman.
